Our Mission
At Mountain View Christian Camp, our mission is to create a transformative summer experience that nurtures the spiritual, social, and physical well-being of every camper.
We exist to create a Christ-centered camp environment where God is encountered, His love is experienced, and lives are shaped to reflect Jesus.
Nestled in the beauty of the mountains, MVCC provides a place where campers can step away from everyday distractions and draw closer to God and His creation.
Through the guidance of our dedicated staff and the power of authentic community, campers are encouraged, challenged, and cared for in meaningful ways. As they build friendships, have fun, and connect with positive role models, seeds of faith are planted and nurtured. Our role is simply to create space for God to move — trusting Him to transform hearts and be glorified in every moment
Our History
In 1962, Sunset Church of Christ in Carlsbad, New Mexico, established Skyridge Christian Camp as a place where children could experience the outdoors in a safe, Christ-centered environment. Over the years, the camp flourished, welcoming more than 600 campers each summer.
In May 2000, a devastating fire destroyed Skyridge, prompting Sunset Church of Christ to seek a new home for this important ministry. Recognizing the lasting impact Skyridge had on generations of youth, the church purchased and opened Mountain View Christian Camp (MVCC) the following year.
Located in the Sierra Blanca Mountains of New Mexico, between Ruidoso and Capitan, MVCC has continued to serve youth from across New Mexico and West Texas by providing a place to grow closer to Christ.

In 2026, the camp entered a new chapter when it was purchased by the Merchant Family. Today, MVCC is guided by a Board of Directors with deep roots in both Skyridge and Mountain View, carrying forward the legacy and heart of the ministry while stewarding its future.
We remain committed to providing a Christ-centered camp experience each summer, trusting God to continue transforming lives through the ministry of Mountain View Christian Camp.

From sports and tournaments to group games and recreation — including basketball, volleyball, archery, and more — campers stay active while building teamwork and confidence.
